Although you can watch great sporting events on television there is no substitute for being right there, right in the thick of things to experience the sights and the sounds, that comes with live action.

On the first Saturday of every July nearly 60 000 people head towards Greyville to experience the "July Fever". And it's not all about the horses! It is a fashion and entertainment extravaganza where everybody wants to be seen.

To avoid queues on the day we suggest you pre book as much as possible. General entrance tickets go on sale in early June with grandstand tickets at R 230 each and parking tickets at about per vehicle on the Royal Durban Golf Course. Entrance tickets will be on sale on the day ( be prepared to queue ), the parking tickets are NOT sold on the day and you HAVE TO pre-purchase them. Accommodation packages for the Durban July are snapped up early so we suggest you book those as soon as you can. To make sure you get your favorite Durban July Hospitality venue book those early too

Whether you are driving yourself or getting a taxi to Greyville, we suggest you get there early or you will sit in traffic for hours on end and have very creased fashion statements by the time you get to your venue.

At the entrances to the parking on the Royal Durban Golf Course, Gold Circle will be creating an additional vehicle track crossing for Members only at approximately the 2 450m mark near the old W.Daly building to help with traffic flow

Very importantly for the main race.

The tunnel under the track will be CLOSED from 15:45 to 16:45.

Make sure you get to your vantage point before this time or you will be stuck in pedestrian traffic a not see a thing.
Apart from the tunnel underneath the race track there are additional track crossings which will be used. The two track crossings will remain in place at the 100m and 200m marks as long as there are no horses on the racetrack.

Runners for the first race will come under starters orders just after 11am but there is always plenty of entertainment on the go around the track well before this. Of course the horses will be on show but there is also music and the traditional parade of enthusiastic fashion show competition entrants on the main course in front of the grandstand.
